Located on George Street in Sydney’s CBD, CBRE’s new headquarters has undergone a workplace evolution – it’s an outstanding project and Light Project is really excited to have been involved in it.
WMK’s design concept draws on this contrast of human form within the built environment, softening the hard edges of the existing building typology to encompass an organic, architectural language of curves and folds.
From front of house through to open plan workspaces, collaboration zones and staff amenity areas, a detailed examination of job roles, work styles and task breakdowns shaped the creation of both fixed and unfixed work points.
Rather than sitting in divisions, business units and teams are located in ‘neighbourhoods’ which encompass meeting hubs, touch down points and informal meeting zones to encourage incidental and accidental interactions between individuals and teams.
With lighting designed by specialist lighting consultancy Electrolight, the CBRE headquarters encompasses a series of outstanding lighting solutions which are both a architectural feature, while also contributing to the offices’ hospitality-inspired atmosphere.
Here, a custom fabricated 180-piece lighting feature sees suspended light fittings inspired by the architectural forms, texture and finishes of the surrounding metropolis.
This city scape sculpture forms a striking visual statement and this, combined with linear lighting, downlighting and special light cove details, contributes to the hospitality-esque environment which is more hotel than office place in its feel.
From a lighting perspective, the new CBRE headquarters in Sydney was an exciting and challenging project to execute, but Electrolight’s creative vision and our extensive range of architectural LED lighting, saw all the specialist lighting details successfully completed.
