A design case of pendant light for the lobby

On top of the concierge are gorgeous prolicht glorious slim pendants, the pendant light capitalise on the amazing height and volume of the space. These were, by far, the most complicated element to set out, Michel Goupy of Light Studio MG explains. 

The pendants are clustered and vary in size, as well as being slightly misaligned and angled in different directions – a simple concept that concluded in a statement result. “That composition of the lit concierge desk and the suspended pendants overhead is definitely my favourite element of this project,” Goupy says. “It not only enhances the space but also the street presence.”

With the lobby already existing and functioning, the team was challenged with limitations and restrictions concerning the current architecture. This was especially true for the lounge, where the client wanted to retain the metal pan ceiling and all of its services, so the lighting design had to work around it, whilst making sure quality was not compromised.

Also within the lounge, large customized rectangular pendant lamp provides indirect illumination to the ceiling, alongside inconspicuous down lights, completely transforming the previously dark and dingy space.

Designed to provide depth to, and express the amazing height of the lobby, the rear columns of the touchdown zone are grazed with light, while feature floor lamps embellish the seating zones, Goupy explains.

“Our approach with the lift lobbies was to create a comfortable transition/waiting area whilst augmenting light levels to comply with current codes. This makes the space feel safer and more welcoming,” he says. “We designed the lift lobby with the aim of improving vertical illumination with perimeter cove lighting and circular, recessed fixtures which were plaster set for a clean and brimless effect.”
